Asking a Question in an Alert

The Ask a question response type attaches a single question to an alert and collects each employee's answer — like a quick poll inside a message. Use it when you want one fast answer from a group, such as "Will you be attending the work party?" For anything longer or more structured, use a Form instead.

Add a Question

1. In the Response Type section, select Ask a question. An Ask a Question section appears below.

2. Click the Question type dropdown (defaults to Short Answer) and pick a type: Short Answer, Radio Button, Multi-Select, Dropdown, Slider, Images, or Number Entry. The section updates to show that type's settings.
3. In the Question label field, type the question as employees will see it.
4. For Radio Button, Multi-Select, or Dropdown, type each choice into the Options fields and click + Add Option for more. For Slider, set Minimum, Maximum, and Step (how . Short Answer, Number Entry, and Images need no extra setup.
5. Finish the alert as usual — assign recipients and click Send.
Notes

Note: Employees must answer before the alert is marked as read, and they can only respond once — answers can't be edited afterward.

The Question Types

  • Short Answer — a single-line text box for brief replies.
  • Radio Button — pick one option (a classic poll).
  • Multi-Select — pick more than one.
  • Dropdown — pick one, shown as a compact menu.
  • Slider — a scale between your Minimum and Maximum, for ratings.
  • Images — the employee takes or uploads a photo.
  • Number Entry — a numeric-only field for counts or figures.

View and Download Responses

Open the alert from the Sent tab (click •••View). The Question section shows an "X of Y answered" summary, and the recipient list adds a Response column with each employee's answer. To export, click the ••• menu on the alert card and select Download CSV.
